Measurement of Large Objects
In 2003 AstraNet supplied a fibre optic coupled spectrometer system to the University of Ulster for measuring transmissions through large panes of glass. A special holder was provided to accommodate the panes, which could be up to 50mm square. The wavelength range covered was from 200 to 2,500nm using three separate spectrometers. Accessories were also provided to measure both reflectance and fluorescence.
Data Logging Spectrometer
AstraNet systems has supplied a special version of its fibre optic coupled Vis/Nir spectrometer to the Geography Dept at Leeds University to be used to log spectral data at a remote site on the Yorkshire moors. Supplied with a 40mm pathlength immersion probe the instrument has been customised to minimise power consumption. It is powered by a 12V battery, which is re-charged by a small solar panel. The instrument records a full spectrum from 380 to 1050nm at programmed time intervals. Spectral data is stored to internal flash memory in the spectrometer. The data is downloaded to a laptop computer for later analysis. The instrument is capable of storing time-stamped data over a period of several weeks.
